About CTC

Communities That Care of Lorain County (CTC) is a strong partnership within the community to help our youth face the many challenges ahead of them, including substance abuse.

CTC is Lorain County’s Drug Free Community Coalition. CTC uses a broad-based coalition of stakeholders that uses youth surveys and other data to identify problematic levels of risk factors, protective factors and other problem behaviors in Lorain County to implement tested and effective prevention strategies as a way to address prioritized needs. How It Works

How It Works

Communities That Care guides communities through a proven five-phase change process. Using prevention science as its base, CTC promotes healthy youth development, improves youth outcomes, and reduces problem behaviors.

Lorain County has done the groundwork using a Communities That Care framework, and is in the Phase 5 Implement and Evaluate stage of change. What do Lorain County’s youth say about alcohol, drugs, tobacco, their health and mental health? Communities That Care (CTC) of Lorain County surveyed over 2,700 students in grades 6,8, 10 & 12 from 14 public school districts.
