What is it?
Lorain County’s Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking is a task force committed to helping our community work together on the issue of alcohol use and access by those under the age of 21. Members of the Task Force include representation from law enforcement, retail, service providers, parents, schools and others.
In addition to public awareness, the Task Force provides critical education to the community in the form of compliance checks with local retailers who sell alcohol, products containing Cannabidiol (“CBD”), or other relevant products. The Task Force also provides Alcohol Server Knowledge (ASK) Training, a no-cost education training for retailers, bar owners and employees of local retail and bars who sell alcohol, and includes learning definitions of ORC 4301.01 (alcohol), OC 2927.02 (tobacco), liquor permits, minors violations, good faith attempts, detecting fake ID’s, and frequent violations.
How do I take action?
The STOP Task Force meets every other month on the second Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Call 440-282-9920 for more information.
